Six Questions to Ask Before You Go Ziplining Anywhere

Ziplining is a popular activity worldwide with different styles of courses.

Ask the right questions so that you can ensure you’ll have a great experience no matter your location or chosen company.

We’ve compiled a list of the six most important questions. Ask these before you go ziplining anywhere! They can be your compass when you go on a zip trip anywhere in the United States or world.


Do I need to make a reservation?

It’s always a great idea to make a reservation for ziplining. Making the reservation ahead of time ensures that you and your group get the exact time and day that you want! Peak season can book up fairly quickly, so make sure to check ahead of time. Most ziplining companies allow you to book online, but many can also accept reservations over the phone.

If you’re not looking to make a reservation, most ziplining companies are busiest on the weekends. If you have a flexible work and travel schedule, we would suggest looking at weekday bookings! They’re often slightly cheaper and easier to accommodate.

Does this company have a weather policy?

Depending on the region you’re visiting, the weather can fluctuate! Obviously we can’t speak to other companies, but we believe that a little rain won’t hurt anybody! If a small shower passes by, you’ll continue your trip, but if there’s a large rainstorm we’ll pause and get you off the course. You have the option to wait the storm out, or to re-schedule your trip for a different day.

What if I get halfway through the zipline trip and I realize I want to stop?

The number one priority of any ziplining company is to ensure that their customers are having an amazing experience. Before leaving, think to yourself “What can I do to make sure I will finish?,” then speak with the staff! They are full of information about the course and can help calm nerves.

But if you get halfway, realize that you’re scared or not enjoying yourself, most companies will come pick you up and bring you back to their outpost. That’s the policy we follow as well!

Do companies have weight or age limits?

Most companies do have age and weight limits! We require that all of our customers are at least six years old, must weigh at least 60 pounds and must be under 250 pounds.

What should I wear?

Wear something comfy that you can move in! Companies should provide the helmets, full body harnesses and other safety equipment, so you just need to worry about your clothing. You can wear, or bring, longer shorts or pants if you’d be more comfortable.

We recommend that you wear sunscreen and bug spray, depending on your ziplining location. A lightweight jacket can also be convenient for a cooler day. We do not recommend that you wear dangly jewelry. Each company has individual regulations, but typical prohibited items include pets, weapons, cell phones and other mobile devices.

Also, don’t forget to bring cash to tip your guides! They work so hard to ensure you’re safe and having a great time.

Do I need to sign a waiver? Or fill out paperwork?

Regardless of location, or company, you will be required to sign a waiver. Guests under the age of 18 will need a parent or guardian’s signature.
